Subject: [KCDXC] IARU Contest 1200Z 13 July to 1200Z 14 July, 2002,
operation from Associated Radio
> Who is coordinating the effort?
Tom Baugh AE9B
> What hours are we operating?
From Dawn until Dusk (Saturday Only)
> Are we using a SSB and CW?
One Station for each mode
> Where at Associated are we going to set up?
We're setting up in the middle of the store, right inside the front doors
probably Friday Evening.
We'll be using Dan's store antennas, one 1000 MP for SSB and any other radio
Dan has off the used shelf for CW (plenty of Kenwoods.. a few Icoms etc.)
>
> What has been done to promote the special event?
Tom has been to almost every field day site and personally handed out flyers
to participants
All of the information on the flyer is also in the newsletter (on the web
page)
Tom wrote a small artcle on Contesting.com
Tom and others have been getting on local 2M nets and informing the local
hams.
Dan has flyers up at the store... and has been informing folks of the events
as well
> Are we offering a certificate or just a qsl card? Do we have a design for
either?
A QSL card was all I was planning but haven't thought much about it. Any
other ideas in this area need to come with follow through.
> Do we have a QSL Manager?
If you think we need to have one for W0AR then let me know who's
volunteering
> Anything I missed?
Not sure... unless we an operating schedule... How about a list of
operators?
W0AR(SSB), K0LW(BOTH), N0UF(BOTH), AE9B(BOTH if needed), W0ZAP(SSB), NW0L
(SSB), next???
> Inquiring Minds Want to Know, and so do the rest of us.
I certainly hope others have at least read the newsletter..
Rick (W0ZAP) and I will try to get the radios, computers and filters set up
Friday night.
I'm not an ICOM or Kenwood user so I'm not sure what's needed for computer
integration with those rigs. We could use some help there.. Maybe I can get
KG0US to help he has one of each I think and may already have the needed
cables. Since we aren't going to be hooked up to the packet cluster, the
computers will only be needed for frequency logging.
Just a reminder.. although this is a contest.. it is an event to promote the
KCDXC and Associated and to try to get new members or at least contest
participation in the KC area.
I think Dan wil help with any of the Misc. parts etc we might need along the
way also...
> I'm available that whole weekend.
See you there, you can bring the doughnuts.
