Don't know if I'm correct or not but I believe the grid squares shown
in the various QRZ type online databases are actually based on
the ham's zip code and the listed grid square location is really the
physical location of the main post office serving that zip code. There
is a fairly simple process to determine your 6 digit grid location IF
you know your accurate latitude & longitude. I've used it to pin
point my info for VHF activities. I do know that the ones listed for
me in the past were not that accurate although they are probably
accurate most of the time for a 4 digit grid point (ex. EM29 rather
than EM29qf)
