[KCDXC] Aired out

Tom said a lot here to think about. I can't speak of
what was said and how the past was because I'm the new
guy. I can add some things to think about.

I joined this club because of several things I felt I
had in common. 1) I enjoy amateur radio 2) I enjoy
DXing (Well there are lots of clubs that offer those
two things, so why KCDXC?)

3) I am originally from the Kansas City
area...Overland Park

4) The sense of humor I saw displayed in reading the
web site especially displayed in the carp tournament.

I got the impression KCDXC was about having FUN with a
great hobby and common interests.

I was further impressed with the TI9M operation and
the presentations at Salina and Omaha.

I was impressed with the volunteering of operating the
QSL bureau...and have been pleased with its operation.

I enjoyed the great HUMOR and spirit of those KCDXC
members I met in Omaha.

You are so right, Mike. There are deaths in the
family, divorces, anthrax, planes flying into
buildings, cancers, being recalled by the military,
filing taxes, paying bills, unemployment and typhoons
in Guam.

These all cause me concern. In order to be healthy I
take a break away from such things every once in a
while.

I watch something trivial like grown men getting paid
to hit a little white ball and then chase it.

I do nonsense like throw a little piece of metal on a
string into the water and bring it back in over and
over and over in the hopes of catching a fish that I
will more than likely release shortly after catching
it.

I go in the car with the family to some town I have
never been to before for no particular reason and we
explore, have a meal, and head home.

I work for an hour on my radio to get someone to send
"AA0MZ 599 TU," spend money trying to get a piece of
paper proving I talked to them and then spend more
money getting someone to validate the proof that I
really talked to them. All so I can tell people who
pretend but real don't care.

I get together with friends in person or on the
computer and share laughs, jokes, good natured barbs
and enjoy the best in sophomoric humor. Wasted
bandwidth is the bandwidth you don't use.

Most importantly I try to be tolerant. I see teasing
as a good natured fun and can tell the difference when
someone is being mean. Those who take such teasing as
serious rather than the good spirited fun it was meant
to be, need to lighten up. Getting worked up about
trivial things is not relaxing...as you say, "There
are so many more serious things in life..."

Life is too short for QRP some say.

I say life is too short to not find time to laugh and
enjoy it.

However...you are correct that in humor one has to be
careful. Religion and politics have been known to
start wars between countries...it can do it with
people too. If you dish it, you gotta take it. If
you can't/don't want to play...don't go there. Delete
buttons are wonderful things.

It has been nice meeting you guys here and
participating together in contests. (There are ZERO
active hams in Nemaha County.)

73,
Merry Christmas (for those of you that celebrate that)
and a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year,

Jim (AA0MZ)
