If you open it up from the front, remove the two front panel screws, then
remove the front panel, then there might be a screw holding the voltage
regulator to the case depending on which revision you have. You should now
be able to slide the PCB out of the case to look at it.
There is a couple socketed chips on the board. One should have the
Kantronics firmware version and other info printed on a label on top of it.
You will need a sharp knife or a small flat screwdriver to peel that label
back and see if it has the small window on the top of the chip to erase it.
Before you peel or scrape off that label though make a note of which version
it is, so i can make a backup copy to fall back on if necessary.
All you need is one 27C1001 for the firmware. If you end up ordering a chip
from Mouser or Digi-Key make sure you get the DIP package as they do sell a
PLCC and surface mount version as well.

ok lets do it... i get paid friday and can mailed it out that day.
just send me your address and we'll go from there. now if i knew what
i was looking for I could open this TNC up to see if i need those
eprom chips then i could order them first then ship it all to you at
one time. how many of them do I need?
