It's been a long time, but the expansion board added more memory and a 
different battery backup system.  Once you have the expansion board 
installed, you can update the KAM to the lastest version.  I looked at my 
KAM and it does have the modem chip you mentioned.

I may purchase a KAM with v3.0 firmware.

-  Is this TNC very different to the later KAM models?
-  What enhancement does the new expansion board bring?
-  Can the expansion board be fitted to such an old model?
-  Can the latest firmware be loaded after the expansion board is fitted?
-  KPC-3 uses the discontinued modem IC TCM-3105.
   Does the KAM also use this modem IC?

I would appreciate your input.
