Hey guys!
It's great to see some activity again on the K6NCG reflector. Let's keep it rolling: Here's my contribution:
When I was part of K6NCG (1964-65), we had our own barracks section, up on the second floor of one of the buildings. Because there were not very many of us, we had lots of empty racks, and we tended to use the empty ones as places to lay our clothes at night. Someone (we assumed from some other part of the base) discovered this, and started coming in during the night and stealing the loose change from pants pockets. I don't remember who, but one of the gang dug out a humongous capacitor (I'd guess the same one used in Mike Mitchell's mouse trap), wired a couple of quarters separated by a piece of carboard to a pair of leads, hooked them to the cap, and put the quarters into a pair of jeans. One night we heard a loud electrical snap, followed by a screech, and someone making a rapid exit. We never had the burglary problem again!
BTW, after I retired, the XYL and I took a cross-country trip in the motorhome in 2009, including a visit with Pete, WA6UDU, and his lovely bride Connie, KA6FTE, at TI. I also got together with Pete at Dayton in 2011.
73,
Bill, K1NIT
