[K6NCG] Radiosonde xmtrs

I recall one Saturday, back in 1962, when a couple of the guys went into town to "surplus row" on upper Market Street, and bought some of these.  A bit of retuning, and we were on 420 mcs (it wasn't Hertz yet).  I recall they had a pair parallel silver-plated rods inside, most likely for plate tuning.

How's that for an obscure memory?

I think Bill Axlerod & Bonner Quint were involved.
