[K6NCG] Field Day

Hello to all,

I was also disappointed not to have worked K6NCG during Field Day. It
would have been great to have heard that callsign on the air again. I am
pretty sure the only time I have worked K6NCG was when I was operating
from KA2KS at Kamiseya, Japan. That was sometime between 1963 and 1965,
after I left TI.

On the other hand the Field Day experience wasn't a total loss. I have
been experiencing a control problem with my remote antenna switch on the
tower for too long now. My nine year old grandson was visiting and he
helped me troubleshoot it. Using a pair of 440 FM handitalkies, we
communicated between the house and the tower while he switched the
controls. I quickly found a bad crimp on one of the control wires and
repaired it.

He used my wife's call (his grandma) while she was the control operator
in the same room. Before beginning I explained basic procedure to him
and he was a wonderful operator on the air. He will make a great amateur
someday, should he decide to pursue it.

I would love to meet the gang from K6NCG at a reunion sometime, but the
odds are against it. Kentucky is a long way from TI. So far, the
proposed dates are conflicting with things I already have on the
calendar. However, we will keep monitoring the email reflector and
perhaps something will work out.

73 to all,

Dave, K4TO
