Guys...
I see no reason why K6NCG cannot be used... it's a Federally issued license, which IS valid at this time. The one thing that's different, is that the current "station location" is different from the original... but HEY, isn't that what you do on Field Day?... go somewhere else?
I'm thinking a center fed Zepp between those big dorm building edges, or a portable hydraulic bucket-crane with a TA-33... ahhh, the mind explodes with joy.
I would love to do it, but am committed (they've been trying to do THAT to me for years) for field day, this year.
A couple of wiring changes, a 47K 2w resistor, and another "rescued" Heathkit AT-1 will be on the air. 'Twas the first rig I ever used at K6NCG as a brand-new Novice (see my pic), so when a guy gave me a "hatchet job" AT-1, I tore it apart, and rebuilt it, as if a new kit. How a person can screw up a piece of gear so badly, is beyond my comprehension. Brought back to life, and matched with my "HBR-11" receiver (built from 1964 QST), it should be the perfect Straight-Key-Night rig.
How 'bout next year, gang? Perhaps Desmond could even get us room in the dorms or something. From his bio, I get the impression that not much is beyond him.... he would have fit right in, long ago and far away.
Anybody remember Gillie (or Gilly) on "Principals of Electromagnetics". Still have my copies of BASIC ELECTRONICS I & II and RADAR ELECTRONIC FUNDAMENTALS.... Gawd, to this day, I can rattle off the 5 time constants.
'nuff for now.
