Here's an update...
Had to replace a SO-239 at the feedpoint on the 80 meter delta loop, it was
burned out. Also, had to re-terminate both ends of the 75-ohm stub. The
shield was loose at one end, and the shield connection to the PL-259 on the
other was white powder - the aluminum foil shield had totally corroded away.
The delta loop is back in good operating condition.
The 40 meter dipole we use for the NNN0DXB node has been raised another 10
feet on the parking-lot side and the support rope has been snaked through
the tree to the tiepoint. It is also working great.
The 80 meter sloper needs work, there is still way too much broadcast
interference (re-radiation or detection?) heard in that antenna. It seems
to be ok when it is wet from rain, but when it dries out, there is a lot of
noise heard from the antenna. It has a good SWR. It needs to be lowered
and looked at.
Half of the 160 meter antenna is still in the trees. We have new rope to
haul it back on the tower, but still need to put it back up.
We'll be working as time permits on these and other antenna projects. If
you'd like to help, we could sure use the assistance. Let me know, and
we'll arrange a work party or two. Wouldn't hurt to fire up the BBQ, I can
bring old rock recordings - we can have a party! :-)
