Really sorry that I can't make the meeting on the 23 we will be in Kauai. But I did want to thank the group that gave me good advice on the new radios for the Blackpoint station. I went ahead and purchased two separate radios as was suggested. One a Kenwood all band HF that covers from 10 up to 160, and a separate ICon UHF/VHF radio that goes from 6 meters down to 23CM. I made only one test at 1.2GZ and it seems that with the 8 degree parabolic it puts a signal out around a hundred miles at one watt. When I get back I am going to see what kind of activity there is at the higher freq. The interesting thing about the high freqs. is that i can use my 20 watt solar panel and run the radio off the sun. I also put in a high powered Wi-Fi unit and antenna that covers about 1/2 mile, so I encripted it for the time being.
I will be at the following meeting and hope to pick up some more advice on another radio I purchased that seems to cover other frequencies that are outside of the ham bands. It can still be used as a general receiver.
