TR,

Thanks a bunch! I got home last night just in time to toss a wire
antenna out the window and catch the 7PM transmission. There was some
fading (or is it called drifting) but a strong and readable signal. I
didn't copy 100% but certainly over 50%. It was a far and away better
practice than I've ever had with the computer programs I've been using.

I should not have been surprised but it was still kind of a thrill to
know that the signal was actually originating from the Hiram Percy Maxim
Memorial Station in Newington, CT. I did check and confirmed through a
propagation prediction program that there was a very good window open on
14 MHz at 0200UT. I believe that yesterday was the first time I was
aware that I was listening to a signal that was being sent across the
country. This HF stuff is really cool!

Thanks again,

73 de John (Jack) K6ZQ

Dear John,

Yes, there is ! In point of fact, I got my license this way and had
a 38 year career in radio as a direct result. I recommend it highly.
