Bill et al,

I am not going to be able to join you although I wish I could
particularly since I have great news I would like to share: I just made
my first HF CW QSO ever with KQ6JI last week.

This might be cheating but could someone tune up 14005 this evening
between 1900 and 1910 or between 2030 and 2040 for a listen and possible
QSO?

There may be a bit of a problem: at the moment I'm only CW, only 20
meters, only 5 watts at best and only up to 5 wpm. I've read that even
one or two watts is sufficient to work the world but I haven't proved
it. However, KQ6JI reported an RST of 579 and he was 25 miles south of
me; K6BW is about the same distance north.

The radio is a fine little Elecraft K-1 with a Par Electronics End-Fedz
half wave dipole.

By the way, I passed my Amateur Extra Exam in May and have a new call:
K6ZQ

PS, Is there a slow speed CW practice on 20-meters?

Hope to see you at Hamilton tonight. We'll be working with the DSL
link,
changing bulbs that glow in the dark and checking band conditions.
