This announcement was copied from the QRP-L news reflector. Several of our
members have planned in the past to attend these meetings, but alas, plans
never firmed. At any rate, NorCal QRP continues.

Today was a sad day for all of us at the NorCal meeting at the
California Burger. After 13 years and 1 month, we have lost our meeting
place. During that time, we never missed a month having a meeting at the
California Burger. We went through 5 different owners, and really
enjoyed our time there. Three or four months ago, they started
construction on the restaurant, and they finished it sometime this
month. When we arrived for the meeting today, we found that the
California Burger has changed from a walk up order and sit down to eat
place to a sit down restaurant. It just won't work for meetings anymore.

Doug Hendricks, James Bennett and I decided that we would try moving the
meetings to the San Jose area. We will be meeting at St. John's Bar and
Grill, 510 Lawrence Expy # 110, in Sunnyvale. The restaurant is about 5
doors down from HRO, and just around the corner from HSC. Plus, it is
close to the DeAnza Swap Meet that is held on the second Saturday of
each month, which is next Saturday. So, we are going to have a "trial
meeting" this Saturday to check out the logistics and see if this site
is conducive to a meeting place. The pluses are that it has half-price
burgers on Saturdays, it is withing rock throwing distance of HRO, and
easy driving distance to HSC. Plus, by having it the same day as the
DeAnza Swap, we should pick up some traffic from there. Please stop by
and say hello and help us check it out as a suitable meeting place this
Saturday. We will meet at 11:00 AM.

I would like to thank the past owners of the California Burger for
putting up with us all of those years. 157 straight meetings without a
miss is quite a record. We have many, many fond memories of meetings
there, and I am sure a large number of QRPers do too.

Doug, Paul and James for NorCal.
