Hi Sharon,
You don't have to talk or use any equipment, a VE simply administers the
Amateur Radio test. You do have to apply, however. Details are at:
http://www.arrl.org/arrlvec/become-a-ve.html
Basically, you have to read through the VEC manual and answer a
questionnaire. Then fill out an application and they will send you a badge.
At that point you can participate in our VEC examinations! It is gratifying
to help others get their Amateur Radio license.
The next session is Saturday, May 20. You'd have to apply to the ARRL very
quickly to qualify before that date, but don't think it would be impossible.
I believe everything needed is available on-line through the above URL.
Let me know how it goes, and how we can help if you are interested.

Bill, I use my radio skills so infrequently, that it might be absurd
to even think about being VEC. If I don't have to remember all the
answers to the questions or talk on a microphone, could I be of any
help? May I bring the ICOM radio equipment that I want ot
sell up to the next meeting at Hamilton? I believe it's the 9th. Maybe
you all could help me get a $ value on what I have. Too bad I've kept
it stored since '94 and now finally know that I'll never use it.
Thx Sharon KD6YUH
