If anyone is interested, the largest international
SSB contest of the year is being held this weekend,
from 0000Z Saturday to 2400Z Sunday. Dozens of
contesters fly to far-off locations around the world
to participate in this one. The exchange is easy -
signal report and CQ Zone (California is in CQ Zone
3).
As a CW guy myself, I'm not going to put forth a
serious effort. I'm firmly focused on a serious
effort in the following weekend's November Sweepstakes
(CW) contest. I do plan on spending some time up at
the club to give the new 75M and 160M antennas a
shakedown.
Finally, for the first time ever, you can listen
online to a contester in operation, and hear exactly
what he is hearing, in stereo. Here is the URL:

Check it out during the contest. You'll be able to
listen to a world class operator (KM3T) operate from a
world class station (K5ZD), from a world class
location (Massachussetts). The feed is in stereo,
because Dave is like me and operates with two radios
at the same time.

Back to the antenna work!

PS: I've been busy at K6BW. Current antennas include:
160M full-size half wave sloping dipole, top @ 125ft
75M full-size delta loop, apex @ 70ft
75M dipole, highest point @ 125ft
40M dipole @ 85ft
TH7DX 7el tribander @ 15ft on the shack roof
R-5 half-wave vertical for 10/12/15/17/20M mounted on
the edge of the 40ft drop-off behind the shack.
Still working on a gain antenna for 40M (Moxon)!
