[K6BW] A Great Success for Amateur Radio!

Hi, Bill

No kidding. I'm still licking my wounds for taking an interest in the Cross-Field antenna. While it is hard to beat a dipole, it would really be neat to be able to operate with smaller antennas.

Have almost finished getting a Kenwood 940 back into good shape. Had to extensively rework the power regulator board. Same with the VCO board. Think the VCO problem has now been solved, thanks to recommendations from a Kenwood user group. I had previously cleaned up an internal fan, but it is still making noise. Recommendations are to swap it with a little-used second fan in the set. After that the radio should be in good condition.

Haven't started the SSB QRP rig yet. Hope it can be completed by Field Day, but not too sure at this point. Did obtain a variable capacitor from Jack, and think the parts collection is now complete. Peter and I had a successful PSK-31 QSO on 80 following the antenna party last week. The antenna is in better shape, by the way, but still needs more work.

Are you planning to attend the CHRS swap meet in San Rafael tomorrow morning? It will be held in a parking lot across from the San Rafael Corporate Center on 2nd Street. Start time is 8:00 and it is essentially over at 10:30am. Best to get there at the opening.
