As a result of our net hosted by Peter, KG6MZV Tuesdays, 7:00pm on K6BW, HWA members met Thursday morning and completed a very successful tree-trimming project! Members included Peter, KG6MZV, Bill, AB6MT and Jack WA6JYU. We met at Mc.Donald's at 9:00am for a quick breakfast (we owe one to Peter), then proceeded to the hilltop. Peter also supplied a chain-saw and pole saw which were put to good use to clear the remaining branches away from the area of the tower base.

Jack is looking into the cost and availability of replacing the tower elevator cable. There are also one or two odd nuts and minor hardware which need derusting/replacement. Overall, the tower remains in very good condition. We'll be using the tower base Jack fabricated to mount the tower.

Currently, methods are under discussion how to move the tower from its resting place near the parking lot to the concrete base where it can be raised to its vertical position. Three ideas include moving the tower down the driveway using PVC rollers or dollies. Another is moving the tower down the hill to a cut-away, then rolling the tower toward the concrete pad. With $ cost is renting some sort of truck with crane which could lift the tower to its new location.

Please check into our new Tuesday Night Net, and if you can help or have any ideas, please don't sit on the sidelines! With your help we will soon be exciting the airwaves with the beam rebuilt by Howard, AE6FC and rotor cleaned by Jack, WA6JYU.
