Bill and All,
For your Scout-O-Rama
I used to be in the Boy Scout Troup in San Dimas, CA
(early 1970's!) and enjoyed the Scout-O-Rama's myself.
We are at the Contra Costa County Fair (Antioch) tonight
and all Day/Evening tomorrow (Saturday), and Sunday
from 11am to 11pm.
We have a special ARRL Event Call Sign: K6F (the F is for Fair).
Have your "Troups" us a call on either the
MDARC Repeater:
47.060 (+ offset, 100.00 PL Tone)
Or, on the CCRA (3) Repeaters Network:
147.735 (- offset, PL = 107.2).
145.410 "" ""
145.490 "" ""
Maybe there will be some Boy/Cub Scouts around
the Amateur Radio booth at the Fair when you call!
Thank you...73s...

The 2003 Annual Scout-O-Rama is to be held this Saturday from 11:00am to
4:00pm at the Hamilton Field Amphitheater, Ignacio. The Amphitheater is
located on the "far side" of our hill - when you cross the white bridge,
don't turn on Crescent into the Coast Guard housing, keep going toward the
old runway. When you get to the bottom of the hill, bear right and look to
your right. The amphitheater is between the old Admin center and the
bowling alley. Use the K6BW repeater to find us.
We should plan to set up beginning at 9:30am. Can anyone help convey a
table from the clubhouse down to the amphitheater?
We won't have 110VAC electricity, so charge your batteries and bring
portable rigs, esp. your Rock-Mites if you have one. We have requested a
location near trees which should provide us with antenna sky hooks.
Last year, we set up a simple telegraph key and provided charts with Morse
code for simple words such as "CAT" and "DOG." We had on hand a Morse
chart for the entire alphabet. The young Scouts were delighted they could
send and receive code, many expressed "It's just like the Titanic!" We
offered very simple prizes or a glass of juice to "winners".
Hope you can attend. It is really fun to introduce the magic of radio to
youngsters.
