Rigs we can use on Straight-Key Night:
(1) Knight T-60 Transmitter (1960's vintage). Crystal controlled.
(2) Heath DX-60 Transmitter (1950's vintage). Crystal controlled.
(3) URC-32 it seems to be broken at the moment.
(4) Milspec 1030C Transceiver - two of them. 150 watts output solid =
state (VFO).
(5) Utah Transmitter (1930's) - unfortunately still in pieces in the =
workshop.
(6) Hallicrafter's HT-17 (1950's vintage) Crystal controlled.
(7) Rock Mite 7040 KHz
(8) Heathkit SG-8 QRP (VFO)
What do you have to bring? What about receivers/vintage receivers?
Antennas we can use on Straight-Key Night:
(1) 80 meter dipole. Is ok, would work better with new coax. Have 100' =
brand new to install.
(2) 160 meter dipole (not available due to star on tower)
(3) 40 meter dipole. Works great.
(4) no beam. no joy. :-(
We can lash up more wire, too. There is plenty of space. :-)
Keys we can use on Straight-Key Night:
(1) CW key at the clubhouse.
(2) Have a couple more
(3) Vibroplex Bug (not quite a straight key, but have you every tried =
one?)
(4) Heath Keyer (not quite a straight key, but still good for contacts)
(5) NorCal Keyer with a homebrew paddle. IF I can put it together and =
IF it doesn't disappear first. (It is destined for another ham).
(6) Built a keyer once out of neon light bulbs. Worked great until it =
warmed up, then it would quit. Think I eventually took it apart.
Do you have an unusual key/keyer?
Bill
