Ever wonder when your Kenwood set was built?  (Do you have a Kenwood?)

Look at the serial number.  It is typically 7-digits long:

XYYZZZZ

X - 2 =3D digit of year built.     Example:  (old set) 3 =3D 1991
YY   =3D month (01-12)
ZZZZ =3D production unit in that month

If it is eight or more digits, the production exceeded 10,000 units that =
month.
