Hi, Chuck

You don't need the hardware to get started, you can simulate the operation
of the processor within the free software development package.  The hardware
will be beneficial, though, if you want "hands on" experience, or if you
actually end up building something.

If you have any questions, please post them here and we can discuss.  Or,
can meet on the air, or use something like Echolink or IRLP.

Excellent information on the PIC programming. I will order one of
these units and give it a try. The lesson plan outlined on
the web site also looks good. Sounds like fun.
