Hi All de Harold ae6fc. We had a great meeting last night, some rag =
chewing and a talk by the ARRL assistant section manager of our San =
Francisco Section, Bill Hillendahl from Santa Rosa. =20
During the meeting I invited everyone to join me the next two Saturdays =
at the clubhouse for the Scandinavian Activity Contest being held from =
1200Z Saturday to 1200Z Sunday. I figure that to be 5:00 am to 5:00 am =
California time. Objective is to contact Hams in Scandinavia. Sept 21 =
is CW and Sept 28 is Phone. Someone asked what is the window to reach =
Scandinavia from here. With 9 hours difference to Norway and Denmark =
and more to Sweden and Finland, I figure 8 am to noon our time is the =
window for 20 meters. That's when I figure 20 meters starts working =
here and it's still daylight in Norway & Denmark. Now, Greenland and =
Iceland are also part of this contest so we could get activity from =
there for around 2 hours after it's dark in Norway/Denmark. Then we =
have to wait until 40 and 80 meters open up. The 40/80 window is pretty =
small, like starting at 9pm for an hour or two. =20
This is a chance to practice your CW this Saturday. Just think, someone =
might answer us!!!!! unlike on straight key night when no one did. I =
wanted to close on a positive note. =20
73, de Harold.....................
