As discussed in the meeting this past Monday, the repeaters were monitored today during the activities around the Capitol. Except for a couple of very brief unidentified transmissions, operations on the repeater were reported to be quite civilized. At about 1315, Gary Butterworth called me to let me know that a transmission was made that said something to the effect of "the Capitol has been breached." While that in itself is not an illegal transmission, and actually probably was just an informational transmission, there was concern that coordination of disruptive or illegal activities might occur on the repeater as the situation progressed. As a result, the decision was made to turn off both repeaters. By 1330 both repeaters were off. The repeaters will remain off until probably Thursday afternoon, depending on the situation in DC.

Many thanks to Gary Butterworth, Marc Poe, and Kim Elliott for monitoring the repeaters continuously today. Thanks to Carl Swanson for coordinating with folks in the maintenance shop to get the repeaters turned off so quickly. Nice team work!
