This reminder that the VOA Amateur Radio Club will meet today at 11:45 in the shack.

If you want to join the meeting by telephone, send me an email, and I'll send you the phone number and access code. (If you still have the phone number and access code from last meeting, they remain the same.)

Below are the draft minutes for the August 2014 meeting provided by club secretary Tony Riggs (and already sent by him over the weekend)...

Draft minutes of the August 2014 meeting of the VOA Amateur Radio Club

(K3VOA)

Present were:

Gerhard Straub, President K6XH

Kim Elliott, V.P. KD9XB

Tony Riggs, Secretary W1FHN

John Croft, Treasurer K3NJ

Carl Swanson K6CRS

Rick Barns WG3A

Ted Schneider N8HYO

Hugh Katz K3HU (phone)

Rich Firestone WR3F (phone)

President Gerhard Straub called the meeting to order at 11:51 AM on August 5, 2014

Treasurer's Report: John Croft reported no expenses or income to report in July. Currently we have 19 members.

Station Report: John Croft reported all equipment seems to be working fine.

Carl Swanson had a cautionary note that he found the antennas had not been disconnected when he came in recently.

The shack computer(s) have not been reconnected to the house net, so we are currently operating without internet hookup. Gerhard said he would follow up on that situation.

Old Business: K3VOA's website (K3VOA.org) has been ported to QSL.net and our email has been switched to that domain. If you subscribed (via Gerhard's July email) you should be receiving email through QSL.net and should be able to send to all members on the K3VOA list using the k3voa at mailman.qth.net<mailto:k3voa at mailman.qth.net> address. The old domain with IBB will be inactive soon.

New Business: The SHARES net is open at noon, Wednesdays. All are invited to join in. Carl Swanson volunteered to program the SHARES frequencies into the K3.

Gerhard has a DSL hookup for his office computer and has been trying to figure a way to link it to the shack so we would be able to use IRLP, Winlink, etc. Cables seem impracticable so Carl suggested UBIQUITY nano stations might work. Still, it might be too long a leap.

Rick Barns brought in for perusal, copies of HR-4490 and a document titled "To Be Where The Audience Is."

The meeting was adjourned at12:14 PM.

The next VOA ARC meeting is September 2, 2014 in the K3VOA shack. Call the shack via landline, 202-203-4256, or the repeater, 147.045 if you need an escort into the building.

Respectfully submitted,

Tony Riggs W1FHN

Secretary
