Here are the draft minutes of the last meeting of the VOA ARC,
September 2, 2014. I am sorry but I will be unable to attend the meeting on
Oct. 7th, so would somebody else please take notes and file a report?
Thanks; I will see you in November.
Tony - W1FHN
Draft minutes of the September 2014 meeting of the VOA Amateur Radio Club
(K3VOA)
Present were:
Gerhard Straub, President K6XH
Ted Schneider N8HYO
Kim Elliott, V.P. KD9XB
Alan Heil
Tony Riggs, Secretary W1FHN
Hugh Katz K3HU (phone)
Ken Clearbout KY2W
President Gerhard Straub called the meeting to order at 11:52 AM on
September 2, 2014
Treasurer's Report: John Croft sent word that there have been no changes in
our finances since August's meering. Our membership is unchanged at 19
members.
Station Report: All equipment is working properly. The computers have not
yet been connected to the house net, so syncing with Winlink or other
internet services is not possible yet. We should be getting support soon,
but we don't know when. It was suggested we could "go wireless" with
Liberty Network. Gerhard will follow up.
Old Business: No old business other than what is contained in the Station
Report.
New Business: Ted from FEMA, contacted W1AW who wants us to supply a
station, operating as W1AW/3 for the 10 meter contest in December. The idea
met with enthusiasm and Kim proposed that we cooperate with W1AW in the
December 10 meter contest. Gary seconded the motion, which was passed
unanimously.
Alan Heil reported on the status of The United States International
Communications Reform Act of 2014 (HR-4490). The bill is now in the Foreign
Relations Committee but will not be brought up. A source tells Mr. Heil
that some members will stall till the new session begins.
Gerhard is looking for ideas for presentations. The idea is to
stimulate interest in K3VOA by having more presentations.
The meeting was adjourned at 12:24 PM.
The next VOA ARC meeting is October 7, 2014 in the K3VOA shack. Call the
shack via landline, 202-203-4256, or the repeater, 147.045 if you need an
escort into the building.
Respectfully submitted,
Tony Riggs W1FHN
Secretary
