I wanted to pass along the results of the ARRL 10 Meter contest from the weekend of December 13. We operated using the ARRL Headquarters callsign W1AW/3. The /3 signifies that W1AW was operating from the 3rd call area, which is where DC is located. Overall, we had a fantastic time and ran up a great score! Far better than I anticipated. The band conditions were very good. We operated both SSB and CW. A station could be worked once on each mode. Here are the results:
CW QSO's (number of CW contacts) - 917
SSB QSO's - 1094
Total QSO's - 2011
On CW and on SSB we worked 57 US states, Canadian provinces, and Mexican counties. That's 57 on each mode. We missed the following states:
NH on SSB
RI on both SSB and CW
VT on CW
GA on SSB
NC on SSB
TN on both SSB and CW
MS on SSB
AK (Alaska) on SSB
MO on SSB
On CW we worked 57 countries and on SSB we worked 65 countries. Some of the more interesting countries we worked: Israel, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Turkey, New Caledonia, Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Falkland Islands, Madagascar, Morocco, Namibia, South Africa, and all over Europe.
Our final score was 1,382,016 points.
Based on the scores I've seen posted to the Internet, it looks like we would finish #11 in the US. The final scores are subject to log checking. Nevertheless, that's a great finish! Those stations that finished ahead of us have big antenna farms and highly skilled contest operators.
