[K3PZN-List] Jim's talk on terrain mapping

please note this is most helpful for someone buying a new property !  it's a curiosity for the rest of us.

up near Taneytown -- there are mountains not that far away.  here in the middle of Carroll we have Parr's ridge - I don't know of too many geographic obstacles if you live in much of the rest of the county.

I can see my area pretty well.  my own yard slopes down toward the northeast -- wonderful - makes my horizontal antenna seem even higher!  I suspect it helps my lowband verticals also.  I have a reasonable path toward JA, VK and KH6 -- and I suspect I am far enough away from the Liberty High School water tower!

certainly let's schedule Jim again on some appropriate topic.  I was impressed with his presentation to 'anyone' building a station.  Also - wow - I never dreamed of WX3B operating with 100 watts and a simple wire antenna!  One of my friends operates a decently big station -- 100 foot tower - numerous antennas - but he also morphs into a 'little guy' when he does an annual trip to Caribbean for a major contest.

73 very fine business

Subject: [K3PZN-List] Jim's talk on terrain mapping

All,

At last night's meeting Jim, WX3B, mentioned that he is prepared to give a talk - he mentioned a 30 minute discussion - on terrain mapping software with respect to antenna height and performance.

Before I request he give it and try to schedule him, any 'second' on the motion to engage for a terrain mapping talk?  If you are thinking of improving your antenna system, or getting ready to put up a new station, it might be an interesting planning tool.

Let me know.......

Thanks and 73,

Pete
