[K3PZN-List] Hamfest and CW

All,

My apologies if you're already gotten this.

First, thanks to all who worked today to make the hamfest a success. For
some, work started way before the show, and getting to Sportsman's Hall at 6
am was not something for the faint of heart. Gatekeepers, club table
attendees, liaison with Sportsman's Hall, trash collectors, and, of course,
finance, all played a part. The attendance looked larger than last year's
and we turned a number of unneeded club treasures into cash. More to come
when the accounting is done.

Second, I've gotten positive comments about the idea of doing something
that encourages and improves our CW. I heard a number of good options
today for ways to tackle the opportunity, and we've got two volunteers
(Jeff, KC3HWU, and Steve, N3SB) to work the issue. One challenge is
inclusivity, that is, of the many potential options, which gives the
easiest entry for the most folks, whether related to cost, equipment, or
both.

To get started, we need to know your thoughts on how you would
participate. For example, if you only have an HT, then QSO's on HF would
not work for you. Likewise, if you don't have a 2-m rig that can send
code, anything on VHF might be a challenge.

What is the easiest way for you to send CW, including, for example,
tone-based CW over an FM channel?

Any other thoughts or suggestions would be welcome.

Once we have some sense of the membership, I'm sure Jeff and Steve will be
reaching out to plan the next, or maybe first, steps.

73,

Pete
