ARES/RACES REPORT

1. Steve N3SB provided insight to the great amount of talent we have in the club, with members showing the EOC staff that we can set up equipment and send e-mail, files and color pictures, among other services. Pictures are often send by MMSSTV. FLwrap is a file transfer untility. Tony KF3AK mentions the free, high-quality program "DIRE WOLF" packet radio software for any and all OSs using the sound card in your PC or Raspberry Pi.

2. Steve N3SB says RACES Drill schedule for tomorrow night. Larry is out sick today and no further info was available at the time.

3. Andy WO3L spoke about the kit upgrade session here last Saturday and its great success. Notes that the SignaLink volume control is very touchy ("weird") to work properly. Must be cranked way up to around the 85% level.

4. "VOA Radiogram" is an AM shortwave program on 7395 kHz that runs on Saturdays at 12 noon of interesting topics, host Dr. Elliot sends pictures that can be captured by FLdigi, says Steve N3SB.

TREASURER'S REPORT
Larry is out sick today. Andy was satisfied with his update given at the BoD meeting this past Monday.

FROSTFEST REPORT
John AK3Z reports on a highly successful hamfest in Virginia that was very well attended in Richmond last Saturday, great programs, great food, but regrets to say someone stole his Diamond VHF antenna off his car in the parking lot. All tailgating was indoors. Still, a highly recommended show to attend!

REPEATER REPORT
Andy WO3L gave info.

QSL REPORT
Mike N3VOP not present.

MAIN PROGRAM
Numerous chats about many current subjects of interest.

Raspberry Pi chats
Pete W3GVX brought his FLdigi, Raspberry Pi and HF transceiver to demonstrate a full up and working system! Pat N8PK brought his set up to show how the Pi sees his USB sound card. John AK3Z shows his 15-inch USB monitor for his Pi. Pat N8PK reports for Kyle KC3FMP that a new "Raspberry Pi Net" will be starting up this Tuesday at 8:00 PM local time and immediately before the ARES/RACES Net. All are welcome to participate. Repeater linking is done by the NCS using the 627 DTMF command to turn on and 6270 to turn off.

Meeting called to a close at 8:50 PM and all gather around Pete's demo table.

Respectfully submitted,

Pat N8PK
CCARC Secretary
