Hi Folks;

I'm delighted to see how many of you have responded, and how quickly
you have done so! For those who haven't gotten my test activation
message and responded yet - as they say on TV, "the phones are still
open" for you to call in.

Here is a two-part question I would like for you to consider, and send
me your thoughts about:

1) Under what conditions or circumstances would using email to
activate ARES/RACES not work well?

2) What could be done to work around those issues?

Finally -- I'm happy to announce that the Carroll County Office of
Emergency Management is holding WebEOC training on Wednesday February
24, from 7 - 9 PM at the EOC in New Windsor. All CARET members and
prospective members are welcome to attend. Please mark your calendars
and let me know if you plan on attending. This is a special training
session that has been scheduled to accommodate those of us who have
day jobs, and is not likely to be repeated soon, so don't miss this
opportunity.

WebEOC is a very neat computer application that pulls together
incident related information, to provide emergency managers with
improved situational awareness. Google WebEOC is you want to learn
more. The hams in Carroll County can make a significant contribution
in areas such as road conditions, fallen trees, damage to homes, power
outages, telephone outages, etc, due to our numbers, distribution
throughout the county, and ability to communicate that information
into the EOC very quickly.

73; Steve, N3SB
