WELCOME
The meeting was called to order at 7:39 PM EST by Pres Andy WO3L with a welcome to the membership present. Around the room quick individual introductions. A business meeting will be held at next month's general club meeting. Secretary Pat N8PK sent a sheet around for each person to please sign in.
MEETING MINUTES
The draft minutes of the March meeting last month were sent out to the club e-mail reflector by Steve Beckman N3SB on March 14 at about 8:36 PM, with an additional note from Peter Jacobus KB3VZB offered on March 15 at about 12:11 AM EDT. (Thank you for the coverage in my absence on March 14. -pk)
ARES/RACES REPORT
There is a RACES drill tomorrow night, Tuesday, April 12. All are invited but please RSVP to gain access to the building.

Andy reports all are invited to participate in the weekly Central Maryland Raspberry Pi Net on Tuesday eve 8 PM just before the CARET (ARES/RACES) Net. Pat N8PK brought his set up to show and invite all to participate. Repeater linking is done by the NCS using the 627 DTMF command to turn on and 6270 to turn off.

Andy WO3L says Sykesville no change in status, all the others are running FB.
K3PZN 146.475 MHz FM CLUB SIMPLEX FREQUENCY
Larry WX3F reports other new activity on this traditional frequency in EPA necessitates us to find a new frequency. Several recommendations voiced. To be discussed at the next meeting for a proposal toward a resolution.

Snippets: EOC customers want all media. EmComm use and more. Hams are embracing IP networks. Gaining access to high structures for network antennas. Danny Hillis TED Talk described, "The Internet Could Crash: We Need Plan B": http://www.ted.com/talks/danny_hillis_the_internet_could_crash_we_need_a_plan_b?language=en EOC goals to support auxiliary communications bring hospitals and shelters into the comm network; 24/7/365 operation. Simple 5 GHz dishes and cell tower-like "Sector Antenna" shown. Google Earth's "Elevation Mode" is very helpful for determining line-of-sight points. Rocket M5 5 GHz transceivers $89, with 5G-30 antennas. The "Open Street Maps" is available for download in advance and is highly valuable when on-line Google Maps is not available.
