You might want to join the Yahoo group for a bit.There are a few guys there that have made it workunder Linux.
I've got my W7 version workingwith an Icom serial cable and aKeyspan USB>serial converter, aCAT cable to a Yaesu and thefake Kenwood cable for my Baofeng.I swapped repeaters between them.CHIRP is really neat.

Yes I added my user to dialout group as the chirp site says.
I couldn't find any linux info at miklor's website and I did restart
my computer after installing. I probably didn't need to, after
changing group permissions I probably only to logout but I hit
reboot instead.
Connector is fully inserted and radio volume turned completely up.
Tried all /dev/ttySx ports in software (x = 0-4)
