Hi Bill, Curt, Jim and CCARCers,
Good to see some out of town CCARCers on the reflector!
WX3B will ALSO be doing field day from the comfort of two homes this year - mine, and Elizabeth's in Timonium.
The Timonium home is a good field day style installation with a low 40 meter inverted Vee, and based on the CW skims given last night,it looks like 40 meters is going to be an all day / all night band for field day.
Hope to get K3PZN logged on a few bands, will be looking on the internet at W9BG's cluster and VE7CC for skims/spots.
Good luck to all and have a great time.
73,
Jim   WX3B

Hi Jim & Gang,
Good to hear from you guys....I'm back on 6 meters with a homebrew Moxon antenna hanging in the attic..fixed pointing due West...not much chance to work  Europe  but still having fun. I sometimes think I have a pipeline into ILL- Wis  hi hi.   I'am however able to work up and down the East coast off the ends.. BTW I can't take credit for the homebrew Moxon..a friend of mine here in Chesapeake had made it using tubing from two old lawn chairs believe it or not....I had to adjust the driven element a bit to get it to tune on 6M.
I will be operating Class 1D (mostly CW) from my home station..will listen for K3PZN and W4DO....
Good Luck with your Field Day operations..

Hi Curt,   I heard that opening to the west coast here in FM07.  It started about 12:50 EDST when I heard CA, AZ and OR. I had a meeting that I had to leave for at 1:00 PM so I couldn't wait around to work them. About 19:00 I was hearing AZ and the upper Midwest so the band is still open.  Good luck in working DX on six.  I did pick up a new country this morning ZF1EJ  on Cayman Is.  Not too far away but a new one anyway.   Yesterday at 19:45 UTC I worked XV9NPS on 15m CW my first Vietnam ever.   Good luck with Field Day.  Look for us using W4DO  on most bands though we're having trouble finding people to operate.  So far only about nine are signed up to operate out of a club of 100+.  Too many Tech's that only want to operate 2m and complain that not enough are on the band!

Signals from Europe are landing down south and also to the west coast.  Interesting picture on dxmaps.com, clearly showing how the E-layer clouds (at least two of them) must line up specifically to bring the signals here.  Maybe I missed an opening earlier?  Maybe we will get some Eu propagation still.
Many 6m stations may not send their grid - send them a signal report if that is all they send - we can look them up after the opening.

6m newbies - we are in grid FM19.

FYI.  Curt
