I'm curious about your FT-897 failures.  Were you using an external DC 
supply or were you using the optional Yaesu supply that mounts in the 
battery compartment (at least partially in the battery compartment).

I will be in Texas over FD weekend.  You are welcome to use my K3/P3 
rig.  I'd offer you the FT-DX3000 but it had co-band interference issues 
at last year's FD.  The laptop I provided last year is on the fritz, so 
you'd have to find another computer to run N1MM.
