Bill
great to hear from you! hope your vertical gets radiating soon. I worked an HS0 station for my more recent new country using one of my verticals on 12m. its about 30 feet of radiator on this band -- too tall per the theory but don't tell that to the ions that made the QSO.
I took a look at the Sherwood numbers -- all the rigs IC-756pro2, FT-3000, K3, K2 and even that antique FT-1000mp are all within a few dB of each other. (all pointing blame to me, not to anyone's fine rig).
However - that is the receive noise floor. The transmit noise floor can be different -- somebody with too much time on their hands can look up the ARRL numbers for some of these rigs as they measure transmit noise. In our case we are interested in noise that is 50-200 kHz from the carrier. 50 kHz is closer than a SSB and CW will be most of the time when they are the same band.
if I have too much time on my hands in the near future I might calculate the separation needed between two Yagi antennas to make the transmit noise lower than the receivers own noise. its not hard it just takes a little patience.
hopefully you can do FD with the gang down there. I run into K4CGY every once in a while, and he even called me when I was running stations on CW.
it would be a real hoot if WX3B does FD only with a wire antenna -- no it can't happen. Rumor has it N3SB will be spending serious time at our FD. he may need his ARRL badge so we will know who he is.
sometimes on the repeater I talk to a KH6 and an ex WP4 -- all kinds of aliens like W8 also around here.
I really would like to make some QRP battery contacts at FD to get this out of my wish list. Usually Phil or John get that privilege the joy of being 3rd string. Actually both of these guys are still MIA.

Hi Pete,
Hope all is well there in Finksburg. I'm in the process of installing my new vertical..will be finished in a few weeks. I have three project going on at the sametime.
A great site to check out for receiver specs is Sherwood Engineering. They manufacture receiver filters etc. The link is Receiver Test Data

The K3 is near the top of the list for close in dynamic range (2 KHz). That's how the list is compelled.

I'm a bit curious about which radios the PVRC deems acceptable for FD
operation.
I suspect the K3 is on the acceptable list. How about Yaesu, Icom and
Kenwood?
Any data on transmitter phase-noise for various radios?

Much of the radio equipment and antennas CCARC enjoys are on the forbidden list BECAUSE of the interference potential....and it would ruin people's fun to tell them "leave your radio (or antenna) at home".

Finally, working out an operational plan on the fly (you do the odd hours/I'll do even hours) is a good way to work out an unsolvable interference problem.
