nice to hear from N3WM/4 down there on the coastline.  yes I did enjoy using the Argo at Field Day, and I could not believe my eyes when TT was having a sale.  as you never know who might be looking for a rig, nice to let everyone know the opportunity.

I honestly see the SDR sale-ability as a way for manufacturers to release the rig quickly and improve them later -- once the code is matured its not like they will find a better way to turn CW and SSB into audio!  but it looks cool to non-engineers (maybe).

at the moment the Argo at $800 is a much better buy than a K2, K3 or KX3 .... especially for a 'second rig' to take places.  it worked well as I used the argo on 80 through 10m.  the receive audio is very nice.

a few days ago I fired up my NC2030 on 20m and worked a bunch of stations in Europe with its 4 watts into my little 2 element beam.  and we lost power one night so I did the same on battery power with my PFR-3.  (while these batteries are vital for emergencies they also are great to eliminate boredom when the electricity is off).

Greetings From Chesapeake, VA

I saw Curt's comments and thought I would add my 2 cents. Yes Ten Tec is running a Very Good sale on the Argonaut VI. The Argonaut VI is Ten Tec model 539. The manual is available on their site for free download. The rig is a true SDR design which makes it easy to update changes using the serial port. TT has issued a couple of updates since I purchased mine late 2012. One was a tweak to the AGC for even better close in signal capability. It has a very good receiver and is easy to operate.

QST did a product review on the Argonaut VII in the August 2013 issue. QRP Quarterly also did a review in their Winter 2013 edition.

A coworker told me tentec had a sale going on and I did not believe him.  A decent markdown I might add.  I don't need another qrp rig but anyone considering a multiband qrp rig should check that out.  I got to operate one at field day and was extremely impressed.  Of course tentec sells direct so see their website to see other rigs also on sale.
