Steve,
This is very interesting. I was at work until 2PM Wednesday and I did not get this email until it was too late, not that I could have gotten out to Mt Airy We weren't done shoveling out until 1PM yesterday. I guess it's because of getting the k3pzn email in one report/day. I'll simply have to remember to put the radio on during big events such as this storm.
We got a total of 16" by Thursday late morning when the snow stopped & the rain began, that's when we went out to shovel. The water content of the 16" of snow was 1.3"
We got another 2" late Thursday & just finished clearing that away.

Folks;
Carroll County is expected to get heavy snow starting late Wednesday
night, with some weather models predicting 12 or more inches of snow.
The Carroll County EOC (Westminster location - County Office Building)
will be opening at 8:00 PM this evening; Amateur Radio support at the
EOC has been requested. We will be conducting operations in two shifts
- 8:00 PM Wednesday to 8:00 AM Thursday, and 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM on
Thursday, to match up with the staff shifts planned for other services
supporting the EOC. We currently have some coverage scheduled for the
first shift, but support is still needed for the second. If you are
available and can safely get to the EOC, your help is needed. Please
let me know if you are able to support either time slot, or portions
thereof.
We will activate the CARET net at the top of the hour Wednesday
evening until bedtime, then start again Thursday morning. We will be
looking for reports of heavy snow or wind, power outages, road
blockages, fallen trees, or other information that will assist in
providing situational awareness to the EOC. You can help with this
valuable service right from your home. Although there are currently no
plans to open shelters, we may be asked to provide support to the
Carroll Hospital Center or other locations.
Please review your pre-activation checklists. Make sure that you and
yours are safe and taken care of as your first priority. Monitor the
145.410 repeater for any updates. The plans will evolve and change as
required by the situation.
