[K3PZN-List] Meeting Tomorrow

Imagine a cool crisp night, your favorite beverage and a rig that is configured for your favorite mode.  Those cool nights and days are here, and the bands are 'all good.'  Even 10m is open for DX, the low bands are quiet for regional ragchew contacts and for DX to the utmost parts of the earth.  Even a few DXpeditions are active now (I still need my first contact with K9W if I can manage it) and we have this nifty event called Sweepstakes for anyone who will do SSB this coming weekend.

So what kind of rig(s) might you fire up?  I remember when I was delighted just to have a rig!  Tonite we'll try to discuss receivers of all types.  We'll try to relate what the radio pioneers used, and also up to the latest technology.  I promise that this presentation will be 'at your level' and you can bring your own observations and questions.  Maybe I will help you understand the rig(s) you already have and maybe enlighten you on what else is out there.  We'll try to decode the essence of all that jargon and I hope we'll have some experts show up that will bail me out when your questions are too tough.  No there won't be any manufacturers rep's trying to sell you a new rig (I am content enough to operate your rigs at Field Day!) - but its intended you expand your horizon and help you enjoy turning on the rig(s) you already have.  I'll try not to 'lampoon' rigs that are different than what I use - in fact I literally enjoy putting most
anything on the air (of course I prefer using a good receiver!).

Please come out, enjoy the meeting, and let's look forward to many other topics in the coming year.

Curt

Our meeting tomorrow will include a special guest appearance by our very own
Mr. Curt Milton, WB8YYY who will be giving us a presentation on receivers.
Please feel free to bring a receiver of interest for show and tell and to
share information and ideas with other club members.  Hope to see you there.
