I am thinking that software install is not so hard - as i remember its a two part process of installing the main and then an update file.
There is a personal info page to fill out grid, ITU zone, CQ zone etc (I think this info might be on QRZ .... we are zones 5 and 8 but I often mentally get them backwards.
The 'fun part' is getting N1MM to read the rig's frequency (via the CAT also called serial port interface) - and present it onto the 'band map.' in the setup screen there should be a selection of rigs.
To set up the cw macros, I can give you some coaching.
Once it is all running, there are 'log types' for a zillion contests. There is an option for a DX log - try this for every day operating! If you can get telnet set up (connect to any of the many options) - it will put DXcluster spots onto the bandmap - this is very cool and useful for finding DX, and new stations in a contest.
I could likely venture over on a weekend if you stumble. We could also converse landline or repeater tomorrow evening or sometime.
Curt
