[K3PZN-List] Field Day Station Preparation

Its almost June ....

Just a few notes on this topic, along with a call for volunteers to set up stations.  Last year we ran 4 HF stations, perhaps this year we can aim for a couple more if we will have enough operators.  (We'll make a call for operators in a follow-on message).

A lesson from last year - set up the complete station in the same configuration it will be at field day!  We had trouble with PC's not being properly configured with the log software (it wasn't me) and cables not being proper for a rig (that was me!).  Yes literally set up the complete station at home (it can be all but the FD antenna) to verify the gear is ready.

Preference if possible is to run all our stations with the same logging software - this will allow operators to easily be deployed across rigs without needing retraining.  Last year we ran N1MM as its a potent contesting package (ok I realize FD is not a real contest but the automation is appreciated).

Something else that worked well last year was sharing a few antennas between modes - it meant we had fewer antennas to erect - a nice virtue if it is dreadfully hot.

Please email myself with your interest in setting up a station.  Also FD related messages on the reflector are welcome also.
