Hi Larry,

Get ready to join in the fun of working digital emcomm during Field 
Day.  Dave KB3QMO and I welcome you (and any others who want to join in) 
for set-up, operation, tear-down, whatever parts strike your fancy.

We will work MT63 for transfer of NTS messages to another FD site; that 
site will transfer the NTS traffic to the winlink system.  We will also 
work some direct winlink transfers through a couple of VHF RMS sites 
(KB3LNM-10 and WN3R-10); Working winlink through a RMS will provide the 
"packet racket" in which you expressed interest at the meeting last Monday.

We won't be chasing "points per contact" like the 8A stations, one of 
which is John K3KWO, who will be working PSK31 and perhaps other digital 
modes.Passing the NTS traffic will add 100 points toward the CCARC score 
(without breaking a sweat...Hi).


We will conduct digital emcomm training (and collect another 100 
points...not bad for a "fun run"). Hopefully you and others will gain 
insight into keyboard modes like MT63 using Fldigi and Flmsg and gain 
experience with almost-automated winlink packet using RMS Express.It 
should be interesting and informative.  Perhaps you will catch the 
digital emcomm "bug".

Dave and I will start our set-up sometime Saturday morning and begin 
operation at 2pm, the official FD starting time.  Join in at any point 
(but beware or be-glad...we shut down during the dark and wee hours, 
leaving that "fun" to the hard-core 8A stations).   Stay tuned for more 
details as we get closer to Field Day.
