Thanks Curt. We discussed some of these issues at the board meeting.
The main result of that discussion was that we need to update the by-laws to reflect the current club make up (for example a 10 member board is asking ~30% of the membership to serve on the board) and streamline our operations to make things more efficient.
I try to keep business to ~15 minutes most months. With the exception of budget and elections I think we do a pretty good job of it. We need to cover some formalities to maintain the 501c3 non-profit corporation status, which in turn ties into our ability to carry insurance, to own property (like the repeaters), and to meet the requirements to have the K3PZN club station license.
We will have an external speaker at the Feb meeting, more details to come soon.
I'll send a separate email about it but its also time to consider running for office again. All the current officers have been in office for several years, some of us would like a break or at least a new role.
Andy

I don't know if my posting a week or two ago made it out of the server?
Anyway, we had nice attendance and an interesting/interactive meeting in January -- I suspect we had more attendees than any meeting in 2012 perhaps.
We need the structure of a club to continue to support our property assets. But for meetings, important to engage and meet the needs of all our members - particularly those recently licensed (yes we are blessed with some of these folk in our midst). Best to minimize business and focus on engaging the membership (and keeping the meeting interesting enough to drive to).
Feb meeting focus suggest by N3SB, Steve is on portable antennas - including those for the County's 'communications go kit' dispersed around. Consensus at meeting was that a nice portable HF-oriented antenna may not be ideal for VHF/UHF FM communications!
73 CUL Curt
