a few more items -

1. if you already have your RS-232 link from PC to your rig established with another program (such as your everyday log?) jot down its settings, com# etc. so you can apply them to N1MM.  without this rig-to-PC interface N1MM really does not do much beyond a more basic contest log.

2. install N1MM per instructions - I remember it being a two part installation.

3. set up N1MM with you data - especially MDC, FM19, CQ zone 5, IARU zone 8 (doublecheck them by doing QRZ on your callsign), address, ect.  also you'll be telling it your rig type.

4. make sure your rig is on VFO A !  then with N1MM running you should see the bandmap pointer move as you change your frequency with the tuning knob.

5. connect to telnet to any of the available nodes - this will bring in the spots

6. open a DX log to give this a spin before the contest

7. when it's contest time, open a ARRL DX log - it will let you fill in your classification items for the contest

8. after contest is done - you have the program generate a cabrillo file, to submit to the sponsor (just do it whatever your score) and after that, if you wish, also export an ADI file that you can import into your main log.

note you won't be using all its features on this first try - the essence is letting the rig tell the program where it is, and you typing in the worked stations call and exchange.  many will be KW but lower power stations will send a number.

Subject: [K3PZN-List] n1nm logger

Hello all.

I am trying to get my n1nm logger geared up for this weekend but having
trouble.  Anybody got some time to walk me through it via, phone, repeater,
meeting ups somewhere open to all suggestions.  I think there is a big arrl
ssb contest this weekend.  Or does someone know of some other online free
contest software to use?
