[K3PZN-List] Voltage booster?

All,

Yup, I've checked all those things, resistor, LED, transistor, & toroid.

The transistor & toroid are the "same" as the guy used. I bought a few of the transistors, not at all expensive, and I opened a dead CFL (after I got the company to issue a check to cover the dead CFL under warranty) and it was green as was one he used so I assume they were the same. On the other hand if he's on 220 volts perhaps they are not even though they are the "same" color?

I saw no difference in how he wound the pair of wires, meaning they were the same length same number of turns. so there's no difference between the two free ends as to which to use where. The other article had them different.

Nothing is oscillating as far as I can tell with my lil' RadioShack pocket probe scope. Any ideas on what you think the freq should be? I was thinking ~ 1K Hz couldn't be much more than that < 10K Hz is my thinking.

Thanks for the ideas.

The circuit is a self-oscillating flyback converter. The LED clamps the output at its turn on voltage. If the permeability of the core is too low or the beta of the transistor is to low, it won’t oscillate.
