Since the talk that I put on for the club in early September I have been busy working all kinds of DX.  This past thursday I was up early (about 0930 UTC) and turned on the monitor.  After watching for about 15 minutes I noticed VK3WHO display on my JT65 program.  I called him with 30w and he answered first try. About 7 minutes later VK5BC appeared and I called once and he did not answer.. I raised the power to 50w (geeze I hate wasting all this power) and on his second CQ I called and worked him.  Not seeing any new DX on JT65 I tuned down about 10Khz or so and called VK3IO running 100w.. no answer so I turned on the amp and voila.. called him and got the standard DX 599 report. 



The moral of this story is .. you can work 'em only if you can hear 'em and you can work 'em using low power and on 160 if you take the time to use the correct tools.  JT65    IS a powerful tool not unlike the correct antennas etc.
