Larry

Thanks for appreciated help -- we need it!

GOTA - if we set one up, it might only be used for a couple hours.  So I am thinking better to invite these ops to one of our 2 SSB stations.  I agree it is PRIORITY to get all these folk to a rig.

3A - mix of bands/modes still being worked out.  Pete/Curt are assembling one rig that will be 40/15m CW, and might also do 40m SSB.  Ray/Kerri are assembling a station for 20/15m phone - antenna may be my little 2 element tribander.  Station 3 is presumed to be Mike's digital station -- that we may assign one or two SSB roles to (depending upon what bands his antenna will support).  Plus Mike is bring VHF, but I do not know what bands (rig covers 6, 2 and 440).

We may try to just use one club mast plus Ray/Kerri's rocket launcher mast.

Setup -- I may be stuck at work tommorrow evening.  Also it might be cooler Saturday at 11 am than Friday at 7 pm?

We need help with NTS and other things we might be able to do something useful for, in addition to a few points.

Subject: [K3PZN-List] Field Day Operations

All:

Listening to the discussion at the Club meeting and reading the email threads, it seems to me that Field Day operations this year would make for a 3 Alpha effort.  According to the Field Day rules, the Class 3A catagory permits the club to have basically two free transmitters - GOTA (Get On The Air) and VHF.

Prime Phone station - Ray and Kerri's radio with AB Mast and club's Tri-band beam

Prime CW station - Curt's radio and antenna

Prime Digital station - John's station

VHF Station - Mike's radio and antenna

GOTA / Secondary Phone station - Club radio with Pete's windom antenna

The Windom antenna and any other wire antenna can be set up using the Club's AB155 masts.

The GOTA/Secondary station would be the station for any none ham folks that show up at the site (Eric's Scouts). NOTE: A log sheet needs to be set at the GOTA station to log the name of any person operating that station along with the name of the control op. The Secondary part of this station would be available for when any of the prime stations need a break.

Class A catagory bonus points:

1. 100% Emergency power - generators.

2. Media Publicity - Was the Carroll County Times contacted?

3. Public Location - I guess the Gamber grounds is public. Does the Club have a sign to display  at street level?

3. Public Information Table - What has the Club for an information table?

4. Message Origination to Section Manager - Who will send this NTS message?

5. Satellite QSO - does anyone have the capability to do this?

6. Alternate Power - does anyone have a solar panel that can power a radio for 5 contacts?

7. W1AW Bulletin - need someone to record this.

8. Educational activity - this would be good for when the Scouts attend the site (Andy?).

9. Visitation by an elected governmental official -- most likely too late for this.

10. Visitation by a representative of an agency -- wonder if we could get someone from Carroll County Emergency Management?

11. Field Day Youth Participation - 20 points for each youth (under 18) that makes a contact!

I will test the generators Friday morning.  Also, I will bring the AB-115 masts and a tri-band beam.  Can anyone meet me at Gamber Friday around 2 PM?  We can start site set up.

73,
Larry WX3F
