[K3PZN-List] MUF (is rising)

One cannot actually make contacts above the MUF (because that is the maximum usable frequency) - but I know what you mean.

MUF is path sensitive - and calculations from measurable solar data may not accurately compute what the MUF really is.  Yes with my puny station I have worked stations way out in the Pacific on 10/12/15 meters when literally there are no other signals on the band.  (of course those of us who engage in CW enjoy these sometimes very weak signal contacts, not that they won't work also in some digital modes).

One of my co-workers mentioned on repeater this morning some short duration openings to Eu (he also has a puny station) on 10m, and likely as we get deeper toward fall (if the solar flux continues to stay > 100) we should have plenty of 10m action.

NIce story Curt.  thanks.. by the way dont be afraid to operate above the MUF.  THis is where I find most of my greatest DX. Often it is because others dont think that band is open so no one goes there and you can work some really nice station without the pressure of a pileup.
