A little more info here on a couple operators below - one SSB and one CW.

Remember when we were thrilled just to get on the air and merely hit the ionosphere for a few QSO's?  Amazing my Novice stations worked at all (no SWR meter, who knows what kind of coax I was using ....)

I hope to put my HW8 and HW16 on the air some.  I can imagine after a few hours I will long for the modern age, but still fun to experience these rigs from earlier times.

Subject: [qrp-l.org] GORC Heathkit Nostalgia Event Week !

Hello all,

The Great Outdoors Radio Club or GORC is proud to announce its very first
Heathkit Nostalgia Event. This event open to all ham operators.  Work the
GORC Heathkit Special Event Station of K3H for an awesome certificate!  Get
your Heathkit rig on the air and work others for some fun and a certificate.
All the details are on the GORC Website. Hope to hear you on the air this
week.

GORC Heathkit Nostalgia Event
Friday, Sept. 30th 8pm to Friday Oct.7th 8pm EDT
HF Bands
AM, CW & SSB

Look for a HW-12 (K3H) running on 75m SSB around 3.820 mhz +- 12khz for the
event. Brian, N2QHL, has worked on his HW-12 for almost a solid week and
it's ready to be put on the air!

Also look for my HW-8 on the air operating CW as K3H around 3.5060,
7.030mhz, 14.060mhz and 21.060mhz. I've been working on my HW-8 installing
mods for around two weeks and it's ready for some airtime - hi!

If you work K3H, please QSL to WA3WSJ for your certificate. If you wish to
donate to help with the cost, that's fine. If not, that's ok too!

Please remember that this event is not a contest nor is it a sprint. It's
just a bunch of Heathkits on the air having FUN!  Those ops without
Heathkits are invited in on the fun too!

p.s. I might try some pedestrian mobile operation during the week with my
HW-8 -hi!

Check out the GORC Website for additional details about this FUN event at:
