[K3PZN-List] Future VE Sessions at our hamfets

I am a VE with Laurel VEC (out of BARC) & ARRL and I would be willing to come out if needed. And I know that many others are willing also. I think this need to be re-posted closer to the Hamfest.

Staffing a Laurel VE is not difficult just come with copy of license in hand and be trained. Then we'll have enough people to staff it.

However, getting someone to be able to run a session is different. For ARRL you pass your accreditation open book test & you can run a session. For Laurel I don't know because I've never really asked.
 
Years ago when I was teaching a license class & I told them I was willing to run a Laurel session and they said no that their group had to come & run it. It was probably that no teacher could be allowed to test their students.
 
I do know others have been able to run Laurel sessions. We'll just have to ask them what is needed to be able to run the entire session.
 
However, a little history might help you in trying to do this. First I've been running the sessions since 1993 at our Hamfest and the one year I asked someone else to run it, no one signed up and no one showed up to either run it or take a test. I showed up to help out and was not needed since there was nothing to do.
 
I've had a very difficult time getting enough Carroll County ARRL VEs to come out and help when I was running the sessions and I've almost always had to ask other ARRL VEs to come in and help out so we were sure to have enough VEs for the whole session. So, I doubt you'll be able to get enough to staff and run a session. I think you'll be very lucky to just have three Laurel VEs to staff the session and then the Laurel group will just have to supply people they trust to run the session. If Laurel is willing to supply the people to run the session and we staff the session with VEs I think we'll be doing very well.
 
This was the easiest test session I've ever organized since all I really had to do was contact John Creel and ask and he said yes, period, and took it from there. I have too little time right now, as many of you know, and I really appreciated John and his crew doing most of the work. We supplied only two VEs, so had it been up to us to run the session the people who came would not have been able to test.
 
So, here's your task, surprise me with enough people to staff the next VE session and then get someone Laurel credited, and supplied, to run a session in two years. I want to be surprised!
